Engineer – Terminal Sequencing and Spacing

Job Description:
Provide engineering expertise to FAA Terminal Sequencing and Spacing (TSAS) deployments and operations.

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyze operational site data and interact with site personnel to understand terminal operations
  • Develop TSAS adaptation data requirements and design based on site specific operations, knowledge of the TSAS system, and understanding of TSAS adaptation
  • Develop TSAS adaptation development and validation tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of adaptation development and maintenance
  • Develop prototype TSAS adaptation to validate designs and integrate adaptation with TBFM software prior to field deployment for site testing
  • Test TSAS adaptation suitability for field deployment and site testing
  • Analyze TSAS software implementation and adaptation integration
  • Perform operational analysis to determine operational performance, evaluate design alternatives, and analyze field problem reports
  • Develop adaptation development processes and training
  • Knowledge transfer TSAS adaptation development and maintenance to FAA personnel


  • US Citizenship required
  • Experience with and operational knowledge of FAA automation and decision support systems (e.g., TBFM, ERAM, ARTS/STARS, TFMS)
  • Experience with operational data analysis of air traffic management decision support systems including metrics identification and tool building
  • Some software development skills (e.g., languages, scripting, environments, databases) desirable
  • Detail oriented, independent, self-motivated, and a proactive team member
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills effective with operational, technical, and senior management audiences
  • Multiple positions available
    1. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree preferred
    2. Minimum of 5 years of experience


  • Engineering, computer science, operations research, mathematics, or physics degree


  • Project related travel as required
