Systems Analyst / Systems Engineer

Job Description:

Provide system analysis and deployment support to FAA Terminal, Enroute, Traffic Flow Management, or research environments associated with NAS modernization initiatives and integration of operational improvements.

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Support operational concept development; system architecture definition; functional analysis; and requirements development and management for ATM modernization or NextGen initiative programs
  • Analyze operational and adaptation data to identify system, procedural, or training opportunities to improve NAS performance
  • Develop, review, maintain, and test air traffic automation and decision support system adaptation data
  • Model NAS operational improvements and NextGen initiatives to support FAA acquisition check points and program decisions
  • Provide engineering expertise and assistance for the implementation, integration, and transition of systems, components, and equipment
  • Analyze operational and developmental software baselines; support release planning; and identify and monitor quality and performance metrics
  • Perform benefits analyses for operationally deployed capabilities
  • Support FAA and contractor teams who install systems into FAA facilities
  • Support risk management initiatives in collaboration with program management and operations
  • Participate in test events as a qualified observer
  • Assist with site preparation activities
  • Review system documentation
  • Develop technical presentations
  • Coordinate with other FAA programs and stakeholders involved in the deployment of new capabilities


  • US Citizenship required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with FAA automation and decision support systems (e.g., ERAM, ARTS/STARS, TFMS, TBFM, TFDM, SWIM) preferred
  • Experience analyzing, developing, and testing system adaptation data and aeronautical reference data preferred
  • Experience with Unmanned Aviation Systems (UAS) preferred
  • Detail oriented, independent, self-motivated, and a proactive team member
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills effective with operational, technical, and senior management audiences
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)


  • Engineering, computer science, operations research, mathematics, or physics degree


  • Project related travel, trade shows, and technical conferences as required
